You know everyone thinks we’re tree-hugging hippies right?

To most of the world, the thought of eating a diet based around plants is just not good news.

Why are you starting a plant based diet? Where will you get your protein? It costs more to eat a plant diet.  Won’t you be hungry all the time?

I’m sure you’ve heard some of this before. We’ll don’t worry it’s all a myth.

Starting a plant based diet can be easy as you’ll see in a sec.

5 Simple Steps To Follow When Starting a Plant Based Diet.

1. Make It Simple

When getting started don’t make it crazy complicated.

Getting about 30 vegan cookbooks and thinking you need to make gourmet dishes for every meal is a bad idea.

Just get a few simple meals that are easy to cook or prepare (which you obviously like the taste of) and go with them.

Then add new recipes to your arsenal bit by bit, meal by meal.

So it’ll be something like this.

  • Just one or two meals for breakfast
  • 2 or 3 for lunches
  • 2-4 for dinners

The good thing when keeping it simple is, you won’t need to buy about a million ingredients, and it’s a save you a ton of time.

Save money, save time and avoid overwhelm.

Just how I like it!

3. Learn From Others

Duh that’s obvious!?

I know, you’re already doing that now by reading this post.

But I thought I’d share some YouTube channels with some great plant based/vegan content.

Here’s 3 youtube channels worth checking out

Depending on how you like to learn it’s worth checking out other influencers to see what they’re doing. I personally like to watch YouTube for content so I would recommend that.

Heres a list of my favorite plant based/vegan YouTubers.

  • Vegan Physique  (I’m not biased because he’s also a fellow brit 😉 , his cooking vids are just great!)
  • Simnet Nutrition
  • Jon Venus

4. Understand The Difference Between Plant Based Diet & Vegan

You need to know the difference or otherwise, you could end up a junk food vegan munching out on Oreos because they’re “vegan”.

If you focus on following a plant based diet you’re more likely to get healthy and buff! Yeah I said buff, we all want to get buff.

I want to point out a few key differences between following a Plant-Based Diet & Vegan diet.

  • Plant based diet is for health
  • Vegan is for Animals
  • You can still be a junk food vegan but less so on plant based diet.

5. Don’t Be Hard On Your Self.

If you ever slip up, yes you’re not perfect, you won’t feel as guilty as you know you follow a plant “based” diet.

I’ve emphasized “based”  because that’s what you’re doing. You’re just basing your diet around plants.

It doesn’t mean you have to beat your self up if you slip up every once in a while.

If I want to eat a tofu green curry and there happens to be a splash of fish sauce in there then that’s fine with me.

And what?

Why feel guilty? You know you follow a great diet most of the time. And that’s all that matters.

So there you have it. 5 tips when starting a plant based diet!
