I’ve tried a fair few protein powders and I have to say, I’m super excited to review for you the So Lean & So Clean organic & plant-based superfood protein powder by Ora Organic.

Just so you know I have tried this vegan protein powder, I’m not calling anyone out but there’s a lot of reviews without the person who’s reviewing it actually trying it.

In some circumstances, this can be ok if you’re rounding up other people’s reviews but I think it’s better if the person who’s doing the review has actually tried it. Don’t you think?

So before we get into this, here are some things that I find important in a good plant-based protein powder.

It needs to tick these boxes.

Is it made from natural ingredients, such as real fruits, vegetables, grains, and superfoods etc. Or is made from synthetic nonorganic chemicals? I haven’t got time for some synthetic crap. I want healthy organic plant-based ingredients. And I’m sure you do too.

Can you pronounce all the ingredients on the label? You don’t want something that sounds like it comes from a science lab.

What kind of tests were run on the product to prove label accuracy
and ingredient purity? For example, heavy metals, gluten etc.

What kind of independent quality certifications does the product
have? Is it USDA Organic or non-GMO?

How does it taste? Good nutrition doesn’t need be nasty!

So with all that in mind let’s see how Ora does in this review.

What Does Ora Organic Protein Powder Taste Like?

Overall it tastes great. I haven’t baked with it but I’ve had it in a shake, smoothie, and in portage.

In a shake:

Tastes great, mix with some plant-based milk and it tastes good. Clean, natural taste. Not overly sweet. Just right in my opinion.

In a smoothie:

Again taste is nice, I mixed with some plant-based milk (almond), a banana, and some frozen berries with a little peanut butter and I had a filling smoothie that tastes sublime!

In porridge:

This is the only department that let it down. I found it tasted a little bland. To be honest most protein powders don’t taste fantastic with porridge for me.

I only seem to like chocolate flavor with my porridge so the fact that the flavor I tried being vanilla didn’t help.  You may like it so don’t worry to much about that.

Is There Anything Bad About Ora Organic Vegan Protein Powder?

Obviously you want to know what’s bad and to be honest I can hardly find fault except for the fact that I thought it tasted a little bland with porridge.

Again it might just be the flavor as I only seem to like chocolate flavors with my porridge.

If you’re looking for something that I personally think tastes great with porridge then check out my review of Form Nutrition Chocolate Peanut Vegan Protein powder.

Apart from that it’s all love for Ora Organics So Lean & So Clean Protein Powder.

Things To Love

So where do I begin?

It’s fully organic is a start. Then there are the 20 organic superfoods that deliver a complete amino acid profile. Perfect for giving your body everything it needs in a shake.

It’s low in calories which is great if you’re trying to lose weight.

I go to the gym so I want a decent amount of protein and it has 21g per serving which is just right.

Tastes beautiful. Clean and natural without the chemically sweetened taste some vegan (and whey) protein powders have.

It also has no artificial ingredients which you would expect. It’s surprising how much crap is in other protein powders.

I’ll show you the ingredients list of another brand in a minute to show you what I mean.

Here you can see a pic of their ingredients list.

Pretty good isn’t it.

When you compare it to a run of the mill Vegan protein brand you can see how it stacks up.

Just look at the ingredients in this alternative Vegan protein powder.

Looks like something from a science lab.

You can’t even pronounce half of those ingredients.

I like the taste of that protein powder but it not made with your health in mind.

The clean and natural plant-based protein powders tend to be less sweet and I’m happy with that if it means I won’t be consuming all that nasty stuff you can see in the other protein powders.

What Does Ora Organic Get Tested For?

Ora are totally transparent about their product. They go as far as to get their products tested by third parties who are not affiliated with them in any way.

The 3 questions they want to answer with these tests are:

  1. Is their product clean?
  2. Is their product what it says it is?
  3. If so, how do can you really know those two things?

Here’s what they test for:

  • Ingredient Potency
  • Heavy Metal Content
  • Microbial Contaminants
  • Pathogens
  • Supplement Fact Verification
  • Pesticides
  • Allergens (including gluten, dairy, peanut, and soy)

As you can see they test thoroughly.

You can view their test results for all their products here.

Interesting Things To Know About The Brand.

Ora doesn’t just focus on protein. They also have amazing products on Clean Beauty, Holistic Health, Clean Fitness, Gut Health, and Women’s Health.

As you can see, plenty of health-based products to choose from.

Ora are very passionate about their products. Here’s a quote from them that I feel sums up their company mission to create great supplements.

Where Is The Best Place To Buy Ora Organic Protein Powder?

There are a few places.

You can buy from Amazon or you can buy direct.

I prefer to buy direct as you help support smaller businesses by cutting out the middleman.

Also, I actually found it’s cheaper to buy direct.

Currently, it’s 10% cheaper on Ora, and if you set up a no-contract subscription it’s over 20% cheaper to buy direct from Ora.

Conclusion

Overall I think Ora is a great product.

Great tasting, healthy, and a very ethical brand.

It’s low in calories, packed with organic greens, and has a good amount of protein at 21g per serving. I don’t think I could ask for much more.

It’s also tested for ingredient potency, heavy metals, and contaminants in which you can verify.

Overall I really dig this brand. One of the good guys in the plant-based protein world.
