I have been on a mission to find the best plant-based protein powders.

I was interested in finding plant-based protein powders that are good for you and aren’t filled with lots of rubbish.

So instead of looking at other reviews and different opinions, I have been trying these protein powders out myself.

I’m excited to share with you the different experiences I’ve had and here is my review of Purely Inspired Organic Protein.

They claim to be America’s number 1 selling protein powder so as you can imagine I was excited to try it out being from the UK.

America’s number 1 selling? I’m sure it’s gotta be good!

Anyway let’s get into this review of Purely Inspired plant based protein.

Enjoy!

What helps me determine a good plant-based powder?

So if you’re buying a plant-based powder, you’re either quite health-conscious, mostly plant-based or vegan. Which means you probably care about what you’re putting into your body right?

So when you’re looking at what makes a good plant-based powder you want to see ingredients you understand and you’re not bogged down with lots of long scientific ‘stuff’ that you have no clue what it is!

Here’s a little checklist on what to look out for:

  • It should be completely dairy-free making it suitable for vegans.
  • No artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors.
  • Non GMO
  • Ideally, it should be organic and have a healthy mix of fruits and vegetables thrown in.
  • It also helps if it tastes good!

Purely Inspired Protein Powder – Pros And Cons Summary

Pros

  • Organic
  • Gluten-Free
  • Non-GMO
  • Fully vegan
  • No artificial sweetness, colors or flavors
  • 20g protein per serving
  • Very budget friendly

Cons

  • A tad on the sweet side

What does it taste like?

This has to be arguably the most important thing!

As I had this powder shipped from America I was excited to try it.

For this review I was testing out the French Vanilla flavor and on opening the tub I kind of expected a vanilla smell. The powder didn’t actually smell of much but I didn’t let that put me off.

I decided to keep it simple and make a shake for this review.

I like to use plant-based milk so I mixed one serving of the powder with some unsweetened almond milk.

Considering there was very little smell to the powder I was suprised at how much it tasted like vanilla.

I wouldn’t say it was my favorite powder I have tried. Thats because it was a little bit too sweet for my personal taste. That’s just a personal opinion though so if you prefer a sweeter protein powder then this is the one for you!

That being said, even with it being sweeter than I personally like, the vanilla taste was really good.

I think most people will really love it.

I would also think this protein would taste great mixed with oats for porridge and also in a smoothie.

Some of the more natural tasting plant based protein powders lose their flavor when mixed in with porridge or frozen fruit for a smoothie.

Purely Inspired vanilla would still taste good in my option as the flavor is quite strong.

  • This product has clean, natural ingredients.
  • Sweet taste which would be perfect for smoothies and porridge.

Is There Anything That Could Be Better?

Overall I think this powder is very good! The only negative (if you can call it that) was the fact it was a little sweet for my liking. But as I’ve said that’s just my personal taste so don’t let it put you off.

Also I thought I’d have a look on Amazon and see what others have said and there were a few reviews complaining that this product wasn’t 100% vegan.

On closer inspection, this used to be the case.

However since a lot of the reviews were written, Purely Inspired have changed the blend and now it is 100% vegan, dairy, soy, and gluten-free.

Interesting Things To Know About The Brand

At Purely Inspired they aim to give people healthy nutritional products at a reasonable price.

I think that’s a great outlook to have as protein powders can be expensive. Especially if they are high quality.

I believe Purely inspired really cares about their products and making health the priority.

On their website they have lots of great products on offer but they also have a health and fitness blog, including healthy recipes to try out, inspirational stories form people on their website who have lost weight with help from their products, and much more.

It’s always good knowing that a brand cares about what goes into their products and the results they get from them. Makes me feel better about trying them.

Price And Best Place To Buy

As of now when I write this, it is $14.99 in the US on Amazon for a 680g tub which makes it very good value for money and one of the cheapest powders out there.

That works out at $0.78 per serving which is insanely cheap.

It’s the cheapest vegan/plant based protein I know of. When I reviewed 15 vegan protein powders for a video I did, this was the cheapest and I rated it the overall winner in the USA.

You just can’t beat it. For the ingredient quality I just don’t know how it’s so cheap.

As I write this it’s $19.99 for the same sized tub direct on Purely Inspired’s website which means it’s a currently cheaper to get it on Amazon.

You can get it on the US Amazon here.

Currently in the UK on Amazon it’s £33.49 for 680g tub which works out at £1.76 per serving. That’s just a little above the mid range in price over in the UK so it’s actually pretty good when you think of the premium quality of the protein.

Prices can change all the time so it’s best to shop around online and see what the best deal is.

Check the latest price on the UK Amazon here.

Conclusion

For a protein that’s so insanly good value for money you can’t beat it. It’s one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest), so that’s always going to be good!

Even though I found this product on the sweeter side, it tastes good (especially when simply mixing it with some plant based milk).

The ingredient blend is amazing and you know what everything is, there’s no artificial or chemical crap. I find it hard to fault it.

I believe that Purely Inspired really care about their products and want to give their customers the best products they can.

Overall, I would fully recommend this product!

FAQ

Does this product still have traces of milk? If so, will it ever become dairy free?

The product is now dairy-free so it contains no milk. However, it is processed in a facility that also processes milk, soy, egg, wheat, and tree nut ingredients.

Does this contain heavy metals?

I had to do some digging around to answer this as I couldn’t find more info. However in the end I found an answer to a question someone wrote on their Amazon listing. Here’s what Purely Inspired said:

Our Quality assurance team sets strict specifications and limits on heavy metals for all components used in the manufacturing of our products. These limits satisfy federal regulations, such as those set by the FDA, and also meet or exceed industry standards. What is the shelf life?

The typical shelf life of these containers is 2 years so you’ll have plenty of time to use all of the powder.
